Defending the health care of Coloradans has been a top priority for Healthier Colorado this year. With the help of Coloradans from all across the state, we have worked tirelessly to protect the systems that have proven to make health care more affordable and accessible for Coloradans. Our work is far from over.
In Colorado, both the ACA and Medicaid expansion have provided coverage for over a half a million people, and has meant that insurance companies can no longer discriminate against those with pre-existing conditions, they cannot drop your coverage if you get sick, they cannot set caps on the amount they will spend on your care, and young people are allowed to stay on their parents’ plans until the age of 26. While the ACA has done a lot of good to the health of Coloradans, we recognize that it’s not perfect. Yet, instead of fixing the ACA’s flaws, Congress has attempted to repeal the ACA and institute plans that would leave millions of Americans without coverage. Congress needs to work together to establish a real, bipartisan solution.
