Dear Governor Hickenlooper,

As a Coloradan, I am writing today to thank you for signing SB17-207: Strengthen Colorado Behavioral Crisis System, into law. Colorado is in the midst of a mental health crisis, and this landmark piece of legislation is an essential step forward in both decriminalizing mental health and ensuring that those in crisis get the best and most appropriate care.

The procedures for a  72-hour mental health hold are not the only barriers to improving mental and behavioral health in our state. The implementation of a focused and committed crisis system will make certain that individuals, especially those in high-need areas, are not left behind.
