Position: Support

Background: Colorado has been a part of a 25-state nurses’ licensing reciprocal agreement since 2006. The agreement has been affected by federal rule changes and is also subject to legislative renewal in Colorado.

Thousands of Colorado’s nurses started their careers in other states but are now providing front-line care here. If our lawmakers fail to reauthorize the Compact, these nurses will lose their licenses and lose their ability to provide care.

Summary: SB 27 renews Colorado’s membership in the 25 state reciprocal agreement and brings the state’s compact language in line with current federal law.
