Summary: Increases the number of annual available stipends ($6k each for teachers seeking licensure/certification in rural schools or rural school districts) provided thru the Department of higher education from 20 to 60. Currently, it’s available to teachers seeking: certification as a national board certified teacher, concurrent enrollment teacher, or furthering professional dev plan through continuing education. This bill expands upon the current criteria to include teachers completing an approved alternative licensure program leading to initial licensure and full-time employment in a rural school or those who would be certified to be a special services provider in a rural school.
