Janei received her B.A. in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity with a concentration in Identity, Diversity, and Aesthetics and M.A. in Communication with a concentration in Media Studies, both from Stanford University. Prior to joining the team, Janei taught Social Emotional and Relational Wellness at the middle school level. She also formerly served as the Manager of Development & Operations, a performer, and Advisory Board member for Blasian Narratives, uplifting the experiences of people with intersectional Black & Asian identities (including identity development, stereotypes, stigmas in health, and much more). She previously managed academic engagement & student programming at Stanford University for student artists from historically underrepresented and silenced communities as well. Born and raised in Colorado, she is personally invested in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellbeing of Colorado communities and residents. Currently, she works to create equity in the youth education & youth justice systems and minimize personal & collective harm in communities of color through her work in education and dance.
