DENVER – Mind Our Future Colorado congratulates Phil Weiser on his election as Colorado’s next governor and looks forward to working with the incoming administration to improve the mental health of Colorado’s children and youth.
Mind Our Future Colorado is a nonpartisan coalition of more than 70 health care organizations, advocates and community members, led by Children’s Hospital Colorado and Healthier Colorado. The coalition’s strength shows that child and youth mental health is a shared priority for Coloradans across the state and across the political spectrum.
“Coloradans are counting on our elected leaders to make youth mental health a priority from day one,” said Zach Zaslow, Vice President of Advocacy & Community Health at Children’s Hospital Colorado. “The Mind Our Future Colorado coalition came together behind a common set of solutions, and we are ready to partner with the new administration. We look forward to thinking creatively with the governor and legislature on how to ensure Colorado kids can thrive.”
The coalition’s Child and Youth Mental Health Policy Playbook outlines concrete steps the new administration can take within a single term. Its focus areas include:

Perinatal, infant and early childhood mental health

Support for youth with complex mental health needs who are involved in multiple systems

Enhancing the mental health workforce

Digital wellbeing strategies that hold social media companies accountable

An efficient and effective system governance model that promotes cross-agency collaboration on children’s mental health

A Thriving Youth Trust Fund that guarantees upstream investment
Coalition members are now working together, and alongside legislative champions, to develop solutions to bring forward in the 2027 legislative session.
“Colorado voters have made their choice, and now it’s time to get to work for Colorado’s kids,” said Joshua Ewing, Executive Director of Healthier Colorado. “Every child in Colorado deserves strong mental health foundations, a care system built for kids, and support that’s within reach for every family.
