
Leo Yáñez (he/him) joined Healthier Colorado in October 2021 as Digital Communications Specialist. In his role, Leo gets to merge his passion for politics with his interest in civic engagement by providing legislative information to the public in a comprehensible and accessible way. With five years of experience in Colorado politics, he’s worked on various issues ranging from advocating for comprehensive health policy, a fairer criminal justice system, expanding mental health access, and more.
His interest lies in helping Colorado’s diverse communities and underserved populations, and he is proud to contribute to this as part of Healthier Colorado’s passionate team.
Leo grew up in Mexico City and moved to Colorado in 2019. He later earned his BS in Political Science and a minor in Marketing from Colorado State University-Pueblo. Leo began his career at the Colorado State Capitol, where he served as a Legislative Intern to Representative Leslie Herod. Nowadays, he lives in Denver and can be found running, exploring the city, or hanging out in the park with a cold brew in hand.
